Are you a college graduate, or perhaps someone who just finished university and is possible in your late 20s and unemployed? You keep asking yourself questions as to what can you do now that you are unemployed or unable to find a job.

1). Learn to Set Goals
Goal setting is very vital for everyone. Only when you set realistic goals in life then will you be motivated to achieve them. When you are unemployed in your 20s, learn how to set goals that will help you in achieving your goals.
Don’t be like the majority of people who only set goals when it’s the end of the year (New year's resolutions). Sets your yearly goals, then break down your yearly goals into four quarters., in this way, you will be able to measure or assess if you're making progress with your life or not.
2). Type of Entertainment
Yes, entertainment your read. From social media to TV and radio, Newspapers etc. What type of entertainment you spend will determine the success of your pursuit in future. When you are unemployed you need to spend more time on entertainment that can help you have information about the possible vacancy that is available outside.
If you spend most of your time on Social Media, learn to subscribe to pages that yield fruits. Search for groups or pages on Facebook that provide information on the latest job or career opportunities around the world. In this way, you not only get inspired by these career opportunities but also become aware of the requirements that are needed to hold these jobs. This also applies to the time you spend on YouTube and other entertainment sites.
If, you are unemployed in your 20s, learn to also have a habit of reading your local newspaper regularly. These newspapers would provide you with information about the things or events happening around your locality and sometimes, there is a great possibility of having vital information on career opportunities around your region through these newspapers.
3). Watch the Types of Friends You hang around with
This one is just so important to do. If You're unemployed in your 20s, you need to watch the type of friends you keep around. There is a saying, that you are a sum of who you spend your time with. If you need a career life change, you need to spend more time with people who are also in need of a career life change.
At this stage in life, you will need to find or become acquitted with friends that are doing well in life. You will need to hang around friends that can tell you information on the latest career opportunities and not with friends that only spend time talking about alcohol.
Do not get me wrong, am not saying you should not associate with the friends you grow up with simply because they do not have a career of their own, the point am trying to make here is that you should spend less time with friends that contribute very little towards your career path or goal.
4). Learn to Read Books
Reading should be one of the top priority things you should do when you are unemployed, especially in your 20s. As the saying goes ‘knowledge is power, and only those who read often will be able to tap this potential form of power that can only be achieved through reading.
But What books should I read when am unemployed? am quite certain you ask yourself this question. The answer is simple, read any book that you’re comfortable with.

However, from my personal experience in life, I will recommend books that teach you how to deal with destructive emotions and low-esteem (example Ego is the Enemy and Obstacle is the Way), and books that educate you on money (example Rich Dad Poor Dad and Richest Man in Babylon) and most especially books on leadership and warfare (such as the 33 strategies of wars and The Art of War).
Reading is crucial since it stimulates the mind, fosters cognitive development, and gives us access to a plethora of information and learning. So why you are unemployed, practice reading as it will help shape the person you will be in the nearby future, at the workplace and in society as a whole.

5). Learn a New Skill
Being unemployed means you have enough time for yourself, thus this allows you to explore and learn new skills that can help you in future.
You may be wondering but what specific skills can I learn when unemployed in my 20s? Well, there are lots of them you can possible choice to start with: Blogging, Content writing, Graphic Designing, Video Editing, Photography, Cooking, Digital Marketing, Data Analyst, Painting, Learn Piano, Yoga, Massage Therapy, etc.
6). Learn to wake up early from Bed
This sounds funny, but it should be something you should practice as a daily habit when you are unemployed in your 20s. Most successful people have a daily habit of waking up early so why shouldn’t you too?
You may ask yourself, but am unemployed, why should I wake up early when I have nowhere to go? Well, there are many things you can achieve when you wake up early. From meditation to cleaning your house, and early morning fitness (exercise), Just wake up early and do something.
When you develop the habit of waking up early when you are unemployed, you will likely continue with the habit of waking up early when you have a job or running your own business. This will result in your getting things done in time, going to work early and on time and also helps you avoid the stress of not being able to complete your daily task.
7). Ask Help from Others
Asking for help from others that are employed or financially stable should be one of the steps you should take when you're unemployed in your 20s. As the bible mentioned ‘’Ask and it shall be given’’ (Matthew 7:7). If you have friends, family members, or anyone around you, who is employed and doing well financially for advice.

Taking an online course in any specific area or field of interest is just one of the things you can do if you are unemployed in your 20s. These can range from personal development skills to leadership, productivity and customer services. The knowledge and experience you will gain from these online courses will help boost your life and career development path.
One major advantage you may enjoy from these online courses is that the skills you will gain will also help you start a career or side hustle that can result in generating income that could help pay your bills.
9). Volunteering Services
Being unemployed doesn’t mean you should not engage in non-profitable activities. When you are unemployed in your 20s, the best step to take in life is to volunteer in any organisation or community activity. To make the most of your leisure time, think about volunteering at nearby community centres, nursing homes, food banks, shelters, or schools. If you like these opportunities, you might be able to use your learnings and find a method to affect change as a professional if you take on a new project or job that emphasizes community involvement.

10). Travel/ Change Location
One of the main factors or reasons why you are still unemployed is the environment where you live. Our environment or location can have determined our success or failure in life.
So while keeping all other factors that hold you from getting a job or starting a business of your own, I will suggest you change the location or travel far away to a different location. In a new environment or location, you will meet people of different thinking, beliefs and lifestyle.
A new location will help inspire you and give you a new feeling in life. If you have the means, think about visiting a place you've never been to before and wish to learn more about. You could find new hobbies, gain more self-awareness, or forge closer relationships with others as a result of this experience.

Instead, it gives you ample time to reflect on your personal life and be in a good position to be able to plan well for the future and crush your desired dream life.
